Hey guys.

So I was installing my new amp and distribution block tonight and everything went fine. Did a final test before bolting everything down to make sure everything was good (and it was). After bolting everything down I turn the car on again and all of a sudden have HORRENDOUS ECM noise with the car "off" and even worse noise with the car "on".

Turns out when I was bolting down I accidentally clipped one of the speaker wires slightly with a screw and I got a bad feeling it may have shorted out something in the head unit, like a PICO fuse or something. The noise happens whether I use the front or rear RCA cables, but the noise does not effect the subs.

And I know it's not just a bad ground because everthing was fine before I nicked the speaker wire.

Also I don't think it's the amp that got fried because I tried another amp and had the same problem , in fact the problem was even worse on the other amp, where that amp had no noise issues at all the last time it was installed 2 weeks ago.

My head unit is a Kenwood DDX419, so if anyone knows what exactly has happened here and can let me know if this is fixable or if the unit is toast now or what?

kenwoods dont have the pico fuse,,may have burned a resister in the deck ,may be a n easy fix for a shop
It's just weird that clipping the speaker wire would have done it. I could understand if I had of clipped the RCA but it was the wire.

But I hope you are right about it being an easy fix for a shop cuz I just spent like $1200 on new amps. I don't want to have to spend another $300 right now replacing a deck too lol. Annd actually it would be more than $300 probably cuz I would need it right away so would have to pay local prices.

Ok so the head unit was screwed up. Got a new one and hooked it up and the noise is gone. Fought with an idiot at futureshop for like 20 minutes cuz he wouldn't stop telling me that it was a bad ground issue and couldn't POSSIBLY be anything else. Fuc**n' reta**s.

Annnnyyways..I have a new problem now. For some reason my tweeters no longer work (both of them). I'm not sure if they stopped working when the last head unit went or if it was today. I only noticed it after hooking up the new HU because all the engine and ECM noise was gone so could clearly hear the speakers again.

How would I go about testing to see if the tweeters really are dead?
