i'm doing an install in my friend's 08 escalade esv. i bought an audiocontrol lc6i, and am trying to wire it into the factory subwoofer. i'm leaving the factory sub connected and running, so no potential issues in tapping its signal.
the factory sub in this vehicle is IN the dash, buried int he dash. we started to take it apart, and took off a trim piece on the center console. under that, we found a bunch of wiring harnesses, so i disconnected one and sure shit it was the subwoofer. so i connected a wire to each of those wires by using a razor to shave off the coating, and soldered onto it. there were 4 wires. two were mostly white, one with a red stripe and one with a green stripe. then there was a red wire, and a green wire. each wire when tested with the dmm gave me the exact same reading (cant remember what it was).
we got that tapped, and continued on with the rest of the install. after getting everything everything else done and hooked up, we got no sound. my immediate finger pointing went to the wires i tapped into. the audiocontrol turns on, so it's remote in is working, and it also turns on the subwoofer amplifier, so its remote out is working. with all of the settings maxed, i get zero response from the subs.
does anyone have any idea what these 4 wires may have been? i seriously did not want anything to do with taking that dash apart, so i didnt investigate any further. i'm now guessing that the 4 wires i tapped were signal wires going to the sub amp. i had assumed the amplifier under the center console arm rest was the sub amp, but may be not. if i DID tap signal wires going to the factory sub amp, shouldnt the audiocontrol still be able to use that?
i do have a regular line out converter that i'm going to try tomorrow night when my friend comes back to town. any ideas would be a huge help. save me from tearing the dash apart un-necessarily.
