HELP!! Subwoofer Slamming even while turned off

I'm a noob so please be patient. I'll offer as much info as I can, if more is needed than please ask. My receiver is an Alpine 9886 and my amp is a Phoenix Gold 1200.1 and my subs are two Boston Acoustics G5 12's. The issue I'm having is while I'm driving, a loud slam will come through my subs out of nowhere. I've turned my subs off through my receiver and it will still happen. I have removed the amp and taken it apart to see if any fuses where blown and everything seemed fine. I reinstalled the amp and everything worked fine for a couple of days and then it returned. I disconnected the wires going into the amp, cut them and reinstalled them and same thing, worked fine for a few days and then the loud slamming returned. I took it to a local shop and the "salesperson" said my amp was fubar and needed a new one. Before I take his advice, i would like to get some second opinions.

make sure the amp is grounded really well, to completely bare metal. I could see a poor shaky ground doin this. I could see the amp being bad and spitting noise every once in a while too.

Thanks I've tried removing the rca's already and I thought it could be the ground but it's been connected to the same ground for a couple years now without a problem, is there a chance the a ground connection could go bad?
