HELP!! Subs cut out when turned up but protection doesn't come on.

Hi, I have 2 12" Cerwin Vega subs and a 1000 watt Cerwin Vega amp. I just bought these a couple weeks ago and hooked them up like I do any other time but when I turn the volume up past a certain point the subs cut out. I'm not sure if its something wrong with the amp or head unit because i've never had this problem. When they cut out the amp doesn't go into protection mode either. The green power light is still on and it acts like there is nothing wrong but the subs won't work until I turn it back down. Anyone have some advice?

Where's the gain set on your amp?

I have turned the gain all the way down and turned up the head unit and no matter what i do with the settings on the amp it does the same thing. even with the gain, bass and frequency turned all the way down

How would I set it to match HU? What would i set the HU to if the gain is say half way?

So you have no idea. Great.

To set the gain, it must match the HU voltage. So, if your HU puts out 4v, then you set the gain on the amp to 4v.

alright well i will have to figure out what voltage my head unit puts out and set it accordingly. Thanks for your help. Ill see if that works or not

What's your HU?

Could also be bad RCA's, wiring, your electrical isn't strong enough to support what you have.

Sony CDX-GT740U.. I have 4 gauge power and ground wire and the RCA wires that came with the wiring kit i got from D&B Audio. I have installed many systems and never had this problem before.

is it OFC wiring your using?

Could be something simple as wiring issues.

Oh and check your battery voltage while vehicle is running with a dmm.

Yes it is OFC wiring. I have not checked voltage on battery yet but will also check on that.
