Yesterday I got an Alpine 9835 professionally installed. I went to Target afterwards and my car started up fine when I left Target. Then I went to go eat somewhere and my car wouldn't start when I wanted to leave. I got it jumped and charged it for a while. The lights and high beam worked fine. In fact, everything worked fine except for the hu. When I turned it on, it turned off, and then it turned on by itself and then off and on, etc... So I turned the hu off by leaving source pressed and it stayed off. I then drove back home, and as soon as I turned the car off, I tried starting it. SAME PROBLEM. It would not start. I disconnected the amp fuses, got a jump, drove for 30 minutes with the lights on, came back home, and stopped the car. IMMEDIATELY afterwards, I tried starting it again. Same problem. It just would not start. I have an optima yellow top that is less than a year old. I also have a 180 amp Iraggi alt that is even younger. And with the other head unit, I would play it alot louder than I did yesterday with the alpine, but I had no previous problems with charging or starting. I did not tamper with any wiring after the hu install. Does anybody have any clue of what might be going wrong? Could this be something that can be caused by a head unit? I really need some help, because until I get this fixed, I have to get a jump everytime I want to start my car.

by the way, when i diconnect the amps, either via the remote wires or amp fuses, and turn on the hu while the car is on, it doesn't turn on and off. But when the amps are connected, the hu turns on and off until I shut the hu down. Also when the mids and highs amp is connected, it makes a loud noise that it didn't used to make. also, even when my car would start, the right tweeter wouldn't play, and my subs wouldn't play even with the sub level on +15 on the hu.

To me it sounds like the alternator or battery is toast. A deck sometimes goes on and off when there is not enough current / voltage to drive a device. With all the drain on the battery it sounds like there is not enough jam to start the vehicle. I would get a battery test done to see if the battery is holding charge. Next I would test the alternator to see if it supplying charge. My bet is that they left the doors open all day and drained that battery right dead. Now the battery has not had enough time to adequately recharge or it cannot recharge. Either way it is a current delivery issue by the sounds of it.

thanks for the response. the battery was not holding charge. the reason is that when the idiots put the battery in almost a year ago, they lost the bracing and didn't put it back on. so all this time the battery was banging around with brakes and acceleration. this will damage the cells on a battery, even an optima yellow top. i think the whole hu thing was a coincidence. it didnt take them long at all to put it in. i also had them recheck the hu wiring and everything, and i looked at it myself too.

anyways, i do everything myself these days. i just had no idea how to put a hu in, so i had someone do it, but it doesn't even look hard at all. oh well.
