hey ive got a question about my car system..right now i have a honda crx which i would like to install a sound system ..i have 2 10" Dual Subs , Sony CD changer ,a shitty 110 watt amp would use for speakrs , what would i need to complete the system..and what kind of head unit do i need if i already got a CD changer from Sony...i also have 2 6 1/2 inch speakers in a box but are also cheap should i install those too will they make a diference in how the system sounds???? Thanks for your help

Like....wowzers...

I'll keep my opinions to myself and simply try and answer what you've asked.

1st off - is that Sony CD changer meant to be used only with Sony head units? Meaning was there a cable with a multi-pin connector on either end of it supplied with the changer to hook it up? If so, it's a Sony-proprietary unit meant to be used exclusively with Sony head units. On the other hand - if it uses an FM modulator (connects inline with your antenna lead behind the dash) it can be used with any head unit regardless of brand.

What brand/model is that amp you would use for speakers? Just stating 110 watts across it does not necessarily equate to its output being 110 usable watts. That may be a peak output rating which at the end of the day is a pretty meaningless number.

Do you have an enclosure for those subwoofers? If not you'll certainly need one unless you plan on running them free-air (just mounted in a baffle board without an enclosure surrounding them) which I wouldn't recommend.

Not knowing what kind of 6.5" speakers you have I couldn't say whether or not I would suggest installing them. From your description the first image that popped into my head was one of those prefab full-range speaker boxes that comes with 6.5" 'woofers' and piezo or horn tweeters either mounted in the ends or on top (like the $15 box Pep Boys sells - I picked one up for my work truck as it had no tunes at all...it was worth the $15 I paid for it but no more than that) If my assumption about what you're talking about is correct you can certainly use them...but don't expect great things from them. You'd be better off getting a decent set of coaxials (full-range, multi-element speaker) or a component set (separate midwoofer and tweeter supplied with a passive crossover)

You'll also need an amplifier for your subs. Again, knowing very little about Dual's products (other than all the ones I have seen are a fairly unattractive color to me) I couldn't make a specific recommendation for an amp because I don't know what kinda power those particular subs want/need.

Hopefully my ramblings have been of some use to you.

Good luck! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

my friend gave me the 2 10" Dual Subs with the enclosed box 150 Watts RMS each , a 110 watt 2 channel amp, 2 6.5 speakers in a box for 100 dollars is dat a good or bad deal ??? wat could i have gotten for that price instead?

i got the CD changer free of charge its a Sony 10 disc changer with Xplod CDx-60X but since this already plays the CD's i would need a head unit since the one i have is a stock one what is recommended?
