Help on a bike

what do you want it for? you want it to look cool? you want it to go fast? you want to stunt it? you want better gas mileage? you going to be doing alot of long/medium distance travel on it?

I want it to look nice and be fast. Not balls fast or anything but something that can get up there. And gas mileage will also be a plus. And it'll just be taken mostly around town and such no long trips.

Something used for sure. Ninja 500R, Ninja 650R. I dont think I'd recommend a full on "crotch rocket" for a first. I personally really like the new 250 Ninja for a beginner bike. Not fast though, lol.

alright first thing you need to realize is ANY bike that you buy, will be fast. The 250cc bike up the street is even pretty quick.

That said, $3k will probly get you something like a 97'-03' street bike, something like that unless you get a great deal somewhere. I'd look at some 600's, good light bikes, pretty quick but some(most) can get pretty tiring when riding 30+ minutes at a time.

Yamaha R6's, CBR 600's, GSX-R 600's are all good choices and look pretty good fixed up. go hit up ebay and get an idea of which style bike you like.

i'd recommend those if you have been riding for a while. Not if your new though.

^^^^I was going to mention the cbr! NICE Bike

Yeah I like the CBR too.

You meet the nicest people on a Honda you know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
actually, the first place I rode mine was from greenville to charleston sc. the trip was/is 3.5 hours, but I made 2 stops on the way. at the rest area's, I met some of the most awsome people...on Harleys, Honda's, Yamaha's, and actually rode with people I had not met until that day all the way to charleston! They invited me to grill with them, so I picked up my gf and we went to dinner:D

edit: free dinner I might add

Harleys invited a Honda CBR rider to ride and grill with them?

Things are quite different over there....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eek.gif.771b7a90cf45cabdc554ff1121c21c4a.gif

I have a VLX (sig)

edit: but even to the sport riders, they are friendly...they just can't go as far before they get the numb @$$//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i'd recommend those if you have been riding for a while. Not if your new though.
IMHO, the whole "you are new to riding don't get anything fast" mentality is stupid. I started out on a 750 Katana, not the fastest bike around but it's HEAVY as hell, thing weighs about 500 lbs. And i have yet to lay it down. Bike's dont kill people stupid people on bikes kill people........and stupid people in cars.

fact is, respect whatever bike you choose, respect it the day you buy it and respect it the day you sell it to get something bigger, then respect the bigger bike even more. don't let full body road rash force you to respect it.
