Help. Now I can't tell if my subs or stock speakers are blown!

I sure hope it's the speakers and I posted in the speakers forum about it, but now I'm wondering if it's my subs.

Is there a guaranteed way to tell which is blown?

I hear a rattling sound like coins, but that's not the case. It is really annoying and I'd much rather it be the Mach stock speakers in my mustang. It almost sound like something's loose.

But when I am in park and go in the back and put my ear up to the stock speakers, I can't tell.

without having to dmm your subs and whatnot , just turn off amp output on your headunit , or turn sub control to lowest, or whatever your specific headunit calls it... if you still hear coins its the interior speakers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

haven't you ever heard a blown speaker?

sounds like you just have a rattling problem

get some test tones, and find out what frequencies cause the rattles, and get in each seat of the car, and try holding down different panels and find which ones are loose

A blown driver will read an much higher impedance. Disconnect the speaker wire to your subs and throw a multimeter (in the ohms position) between the positive and negative terminals. If it reads ~1, 2 or 4 ohms you are good. If it reads like 10-kohms they are blown. Also, while you are at it make sure the gains on your amp are set correctly.

My guess is still that you're getting rattling though. As mentioned above, grab some test tones and play with 'em for a little while. Push down on your rear deck, hold plastic panels, etc. See what's rattling then grab some sound deadener.

why dont u just turn down ur bass on ur subs and listen to the speaker to see if it rattles
