help.. need help figuring out the best sound system

Sound deadener is a heavy, sticky roll of black [asphalt or rubber] with aluminum on one side.

The idea is that by sticking it onto a panel, the panel will not vibrate as much, or as loudly, because it will weigh more.

That's the simple explanation.

Lab:

Fine a sheet of metal. Computer sidepanel, maybe;

Give it a good whack; Note the sound. It should "ring"

Now, do a good job of taping a magazine to one side of it.

Whack it again; It should be "dead"

There ya go.

ok thanks... ill post some pics when i get the system installed...

oh my friend said for 2 12 inche subs i need 1500 watt amp to push it or power it? is that true or is he full of shit..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

It depends on the subs, and the amp, friend; There is no flat law about it; There are zillions of 12" subs out there that would do nothing but catch on fire if you gave them 1500 watts. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think you should keep reading around here, then you can teach him a thing or two. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok, cuz i think im going to get kickers audiodann(i hope i spelled it right) for the subs but i dont know about the subs? or tweekers or the other kind of speakers in the back doors or the deck(will i think i might go with boss or pinoneer)

Audiobahn, Boss, Pyle, Lanzar, Bazooka, Pyramid, Sony;

These are all junk brands, I can't recommend any of them.

Pioneer and Kicker are decent brands, if you absolutely have to have a name-brand setup.

I wouldn't recommend Pioneer's lower lines of components and coaxial speakers, but their Premier line of drivers and headunits are good.

Tweeters are the tiny (.5" - 1") speakers that play the very high sounds,

Midranges are the medium (3" - 6.5") speakers that play the majority of sounds,

Midbass are medium (5" - 8") speakers that play the higher bass sounds,

Woofers and Subwoofers are larger (8" - 18") speakers that play lower sounds.

You don't need each and every one of these; Many good setups consist of;

2 Tweeters (front of car)

2 Midranges (front of car)

1 (sub)Woofer (trunk of car)

1 amp for woofer

1 amp for midranges and tweeters

1 cd player

but i can always add onto my system later right?

so kickers for the speakers all of them pioneer for the reciever..

what about amps? which brands are good, junk, name-brand?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blush.gif.99bc659ee2012b7d826165e26fb5eebe.gif

Sure, just about everybody here adds and subtracts constantly from their setups.

I've never owned any of the new kicker products, it would be irresponsible of me to recommend them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Brand names aren't everything; For instance, you've probably heard of JL Audio.

JL makes one of the best woofers around! (w7)

They also make cheap stuff I wouldn't even consider. (w0)

You need to spend some time and a little focus reading about what it is that makes a product work better or worse than another.

There is no list that says Brand A is better than Brand B which is better than Brand C //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You may really like the sound of MB Quart speakers, and I may really prefer the sound of CDT Audio's speakers; They may cost exactly the same money; In that case, I'd buy the CDT, you'd buy the MB Quart, and we'd both be happy.

Start reading, and when you're done, you should be able to state your goals for the system, and how they apply to the products you choose. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

JL makes one of the best woofers around! (w7)

my friends told me that too last night when i asked them...

i have been doing some research but i really dont understand the amps.... like which is better 2 or 4 or 5 or 6 with bridge w/o bridge w/crossover ablitity w/o crossover?

and what brand of amp do u recommend? and wattage for 2 12 inch

Needja to do some research on your own man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Which is better, a Screwdriver, Hammer, or Jigsaw? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

They all do different things.

And for what it's worth, "Bridging" an amp basically means combining the power from more than one amp channel to a single speaker channel.

You might see a two-channel amp that is:

100 watts x 2

200 watts bridged

Which means 100 watts for each of two channels

200 watts if you combine the two channels into one.

I posted some links for you a few posts back - go read them. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

ok i know im going to get ported boxes to make my techno bump...
