Help - my laptop won't turn on.

So I was using my laptop before and I closed it. I came back a few minutes later and I opened it and the screen was black. It won't turn on and the battery light that is usually on isn't. I tried plugging the power cord in and that doesn't do anything, it still won't turn on.

Any ideas on whats wrong with it?

What connections should i clean? As for pics, picture a laptop that is turned off, thats pretty much what it looks like.

Its wierd because it stays running normally when I close it, like it doesn't go to standby or whatever, then when I opened it again it was completely dead.

hold down the power button for about 1 min.

let it sit for about another min

plug it back up and put the battery back in.

try to turn it on

What exactly is static? I noticed last night that my anti virus program kept popping up and all it said was Static.

Its an IBM something or other. My school gives one to every student. It wasn't running at all, as in no power - nothing. But its working now.

I think thats another way of saying your computer is asleep and didnt wakeup.
