help me with my system

so today i went to tweeter.i was lookin to upgrade my door speakers.i was lookin at jl componets.he told me since i have a mach system in my mustang that i would have to change everythin.that changin out the speakers would do nothin.for me to do it good he said that i would need to amp the speakers and change everythin in my car.he said totally price was like 900-1000.front speakers is 150,deck 160,amp 200 for the cheapest on,than wiring it was like 100,amp install is 100,and other stuff.is this stuff true about my car.i just want to change my speakers out for now an amp later.or is it cheapest to amp now.

sure u can change just the speakers

im sure that bose system has a small amplifier like 25watts or something , but u can do anything u want, might not sound good, but it will work

You could get a very decent system for much less.

I believe the mach system has its own amp, so addind door speakers over the stock ones will sound much better. You will want to get a better amp down the road, but the new speakers will be louder, and sound better than the stockers.

it sounds like you don't have a lot of money to spend. get away from tweeter.

some cars have weird *** stereos from the factory, if you are not sure whats going on in your car you run the risk of damageing something. go to (or call on the phone) a good car audio store (not tweeters). talk to some people about your car and what you want, you will know if the person you are talking to knows what they are talking about or just a bs artist, if they are clear and straight about things they know, if every other word is err or ahh or i think, then they are not sure and you need to talk to someone else.

your fist question should be this,

hello i want to talk to someone who as done an audio upgrade on a mustang (model number here)

ask them a few questions, if they are polite and clear see what they sujest, if they are full of chit get away from them as fast as you can and find someone who now wtf they are talking about.

you can upgrade the audio in your car, you can also phuk it up if your not careful?

you are better off getting some components for the front, replaceing the front stocks, and getting a new deck, by pass the factory amp. and wire the new speakers to the new deck.

Don't have a mustang but here's a write up on the Mach system from Crutchfield. From what I can tell either the factory amps or head unit have crossovers built into them which can make it difficult to simply drop in aftermarket speakers.

I would search out some of the Mustang forums and see what those guys are doing with their systems. The sales guy at Tweeter may or may not know his stuff. It does appear it may be a bit more complicated than a standard drop-in install, but is probably not as big a deal as he is making of it.

I've had a stang cobra w/ the mach system in it....even w/ the sub in the trunk.

Its fine to add speakers to the system.....I've done it. All you are doing is changing speakers. Now, when I did a complete system in it, I didnt use a single stock amp or anything. I used all aftermarket amps, subs, speakers, wiring, etc. I dont know what you wound have to do to add an amp, since it has an amp already......you should go to a reputalbe stereo place....not tweeter.....know nothings!! I do know that you can change speakers, just aint sure on everything else.

Go somewhere good and ask them.
