Help me ressurect my D2

To make a long story short, my D2 has been out of service for about 6 years and I'm looking to resurrect it. I'm no electronic tech, but I personally think (knowing the history behind the amp) it's either not receiving an audio signal from the HU (via the rca input jacks on the amp), or it's not pushing out the signal to the sub from the speaker output part (no power or something.) I really don't think it's anything between there, but I won't rule anything out since I don't know a whole lot.

One of the parts in question is the one right between the two gold speaker outputs, in front of the big orange thing. Now apparently, if I remember correctly (it was 6-7 years ago) the guy who worked on it says he cut it (for some reason, to test something I think) but it shouldn't be the reason it's not working at all now. Quick note, the amp worked BEFORE I sent it to the guy, when I got it back it didn't work at all.

Apparently the only part that was worked on/replaced is the RCA inputs (to the left in one of the above pics.) Is there any way I can see if the amplifier is receiving a signal through those?

How I can test with a multimeter to see if the amp is pushing out power through the speaker outputs pictured above, to the sub.

As far as I can remember, the amp did NOT go into protect mode when hooked up.

Thanks in advance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

post this over on http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/car-audio/ . there is several people there who can help walk you through the testing you are trying to do. If you want you could email me and i will try to help out as well jsb4251981@yahoo.com if your amp actually turns on thats half the battle. These things were notorious for self destructing for no reason. if you want to try and test to see if the amp is producing power through the speaker outputs you could either hook a sub up to it or set your multimeter to ac volts and play some music or a test tone to see if you are getting any voltage out of the speaker terminals. I would say that if the amp worked fine before this douchebag worked on it and then he replaced the rcas and now it doesn't work that is probably your issue. Could be as simple as some bad soldering or he could have even put rcas with a different pinout into your amp and now the signal isn't going where it needs to go to get amplified. I'd like to see some more detailed pics of this amp and the guys work. Hell I would check it out for ya for free if you were local

Just looked at your pics a little better. I don't believe that resistor being clipped is keeping you from getting any output. I have an earthquake d200hc mark 2 here that is very very similiar to your amp that I will check to verify that info. Nonetheless it should be either replaced (recommended) or soldered back together. I'm sure earthquake put it there for a reason and i'm not sure why the guy would have clipped it.

Replace that resistor. Likely the RCA Shield to Power supply secondary Ground resistor. Amp will not work right without it. It's probably a pretty low ohm resistor, usually something like 2.2 or so ohms...

These things DO self destruct for no reason, bad design, as voltage dips, it becomes unstable and will blow up. Old Class D designs FTL....

I'll try soldering that resistor back together, it looks like it can be repaired. I appreciate the help, I'll get some pics up in a bit. What kind of solder do I need. I don't remember what I used in the past (besides it being made for electronics), but I think I need a certain kind to stand up to a certain temp/voltage load or something right? Any tests I can do without a multimeter, until I get one.
