help me!!!!!! my solo X sounds like shit!

after blowing a piece of shit polk mm 12" with single 4ohm, i decided to stop clowning myself....

i have a sundown saz-3000D mono amp, and i purchased a brand new solo X 12" with dual 2ohm coils. I have a 1.5 cube sealed box, and 0g kolossus fleks cables, 12g hyperflex speaker wires.

wired in series, the sub sounds OK, but is just not nearly the power i paid for...

wired in parallel, the sub sounds good when it only has a little power, but when i turn it up, the sub makes a popping noise.

is this clipping?

what is my problem? can the box only power ~800W to the sub?

i'm hoping all i need to do is get a good ported box, but i have no clue whats wrong... also, i have 2 batteries with 200A alternator.

please give me any and all advise, im a ****in n00b.

i just want my solo X to make my ears bleed, but its not even close...

go to the local audio store and have them set your gains

Itl give the sub clean power. Allowing it to (probably) get louder without hurting it or producing the pop perhaps.

Read a gain setting tutorial. Or as a quick test use the old method. Turn the gain down, set volume knob to a casual listening level. Slowing turn the gain up until the sub stops getting louder, and turn it back down a little.

That should get you in the area of right if you dont have a DMM. Try that and let us know how it goes.

if he is losing mechanical control of the sub a bigger sealed box might make it worse

so i guess the question is.... sell the solo X or buy a 3 cube ported box?

... even with the gain almost at the lowest setting possible, when the volume is turned up the sub still pops.
