Help Me Help my Nephew

My Nephew is about to turn 16. He has a 1988 Chevy Ext Cab P.U. that completely tap him of any extra funds. I offered to install a stereo in his truck with a limit of $500. I've banged around a lot of ideas, but the sub has me puzzled. Can be 10 or 12 in a sealed box with a limit of $75. I was thinking of building a box, but the floor in these trucks makes it a real PITA.

people have been suggesting the hifonics hifi12's that sell on ebay for about 30 bucks shipped as a decent budget sub. I've never heard them myself but they seem decent on paper.

For a few more dollars the Zeus series Hifonics sub would be the better buy. They are real tough for the price and do pretty good on output and sound.

They are very sloppy and can only take around 250 RMS

I would highly suggest the hifonics Brutus line. Very tough and loud woofers, they get loud and sound excellent for the money.

the hfi need 2 cf sealed and 2.5 ported i can sell you 1 new zeus for 80 shipped alton is correct they are a ton better for small spaces especially.

the hfi is a great sub but they need alot of air.

I still have a pair of the old 12" Zeus's that light up behind he dustcap, ran them for awhile after the Brutus' locked up on the BXi2006 @ 2ohms (1300rms) which is almost double what the old ones were rated to handle and they did real good... surprised me quite a bit, found out that they really love some power... The extra power got them louder than they were before (of course), but it really tightened up the sound out of them... If I hadn't already bought the Q's, it wouldn't have bothered me at all to run them for awhile...

they have gotten much better too

just did an install yesterday with 2 12" brutus squares rated at 600 rms on 2450 in a hatchback louder than alot of dual 15 and 18 setups //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif their subs take a huge beating.

my wifes van has 3.5 yr old set of round light up 2006 models on 1100 rms each daily and they are still slamming. very under rated sub. ill take a brutus over an sdc any day of the week.

Yeah, I wish I had gotten the Brutus' into the proper enclosure before they died, would have been nice to see what they could really do.

Mike Stiers designed my wifes specifically to make them hammer hard at 40-60 hz and take 1200 rms each he did an amazing job. they have lived through enormous abuse lolz
