Help me get loud and sound good...

I have $1000 to spend for subs/amp. I want pure sql. I have a Jeep Liberty suv so I do have plenty of room. I would like to avoid upgrading alt. I will do the big3 and get a good battery under the hood. I'm also running a 2 channel amp 200x2 rms for my front stage. I'm thinking maybe a class d amp somewhere in the 1200-1500 rms range and some subs. Ideas?

2 SSA Gcon 15s should do the trick for wide range of music. Or an Incriminator audio Death Row 18 if you want wide range of music with smashing lows. pair with ct sounds 1400 amp or an SAZ 1500

American Bass XFL series subs, can handle upwards of 2k clean power and are somewhere around $200 brand new I believe. I love mine, loud as all hell playing rap and very clean with country, don't listen to much else. Clarity and loudness are mainly affected by box construction and design, though.

OP, you can PM me if you want to shoot ideas back and forth. The idea of the GCON is pretty smart and right within budget. Enclosure will end up dictating overall SQ and response from the subs, so factor that into the budget.

Even with that budget, you might be able to swing a pair of ICON over GCON and get a good used 2K to run the whole shebang. Difference is aluminum vs copper coils between the two

Agreed with this here. Since you have the unit pulled out of the car/dash...test it at your car battery directly for operation. very simple to do...

Yeah, put the probes on the power wire and ground wire of the amplifier. Multimeter on DC. Do not put it on the wires that go to your speakers. M
