Alright guys, well finally got around to hooking up my new amp to my 12" TC9 (Hifonics BXi1206d)
Anyways, I previously was running a 400watt amp and it sounded great. But the Sub is rated at 800Wrms so i figured i should upgrade.
When setting the gains on the Hifonics amp, once i got to about ~480-500watt range the sub would distort.. It would sound like clipping to me, however i don't see why anything would be clipping.
There is a small air leak, though the gasket on my box (sealed box) and i've just been to lazy to pull the sub out and fix it..
Could this sound be the sub bottoming out due to the airleak? Or any other ideas?
I just dont see how the amp could be clipping at only ~480-500watts when its rated for 900. (I know their overrated, but i expect atleast 800watts)
Yes, Bass Boost is OFF...
