help me decide

Of the 2 choices I'd go w/ the first one.

Reason: most sub stages are more power hungary than the front stage ie, looks more balanced

Side note: l ran a pdx on my fronts & will never do it again. Don't get me wrong, it'll be sufficient for most enthusiasts. But seeing your gonna be going w/ a respectable set of comps. I figured I'd throw it out there. As there's much cleaner amps you could choose from.

that's what i was thinking, that's why i wanted opinions. what amps would you recommend then?

Im a 5 channel guy myself. I own 2 memphis belles. With the PDXs I would do 2 seperate amps. the PDX5 isnt robust enough for me
this is also what i was thinking. i figure that two amps would be better than one. each to serve their dedicated purpose. they may even run cooler??? why isn't the pdx robust enough?

added a third choice to the list above

i can ditch the pdx on the sub and use a 500/1 on that 13tw5 if that makes a difference in your comments.

The PDX doesnt have enough ppower on the 4 channel side for me. Ill have my belle bridged (225x2) to my midbasses and another matching 4x75 amp powering my tweets with 2 open channels to run rears or if I ever decide to go 3 way. how many channels do you need altogether? this was posted on DIYMA a little bit ago. you could buy 2 of these, bridge 2 channels to run subs and have 6 channels at 150 per for everything else

or for a little more power 175x4 or 700x2 (or 175x2 and 700x1)

other option(s) w/ my 2 cents

Boston spz60 (the z6 looks power hungary & I don't like under powering comps)

JL 300/2 or Alpine pdx 2.150 (again, I wouldn't choose a pdx for the fronts, as per personal experience)

JL 500/1 or Alpine pdx 1.600 (both excellent choices for sub duties)

JL 13w5 or IDQ12v3 (I wouldn't go w/ a shallow mount unless it was my only option in regards too space)

i guess i need a three channel because i'm only going to be running components in the doors and a sub.

i have the z6's, 13tw5, and 500/1 here (actually for sale). i figured maybe i could put them in my setup so i wouldn't have to buy that much more.

if i send 300x2 to the z6's they wouldn't be under powered but my concern would be can a single 13tw5 play loud enough to keep up with them.

what's your thoughts between these two amps, jl hd600/4 ($800) and the alpine pdx-4.150 ($400). to the untrained ear, would someone notice a difference?

i changed the first post and got rid of the different setup options.

I am also not a fan on the pdx's, at one point i was running 4 of them in my car and was not impressed. They seem to lack balls should i say, did not like the way they sounded at all. I really cant explain it.

Ive never really been able to tell if amps actually had a sonic footprint until i ran those, they just didnt sound natural.

lets discuss the pdx's on the front stage and all their problems. do you think it's because they're class d, or digital? do you think the jl hd600/4 will act the same?
