EDIT: Wow i f*cked my title up. Typing > me

I dont know jack sh*t about home stereo. Okay, i know a bit, but i need help with the substage.

anyways, im just building a home stereo for my computer/parties. I have a onkyo 5.1 reciever, and i'll be buying sony-SS bookshelves and floorstanding speakers (no center channel).

Now, i have no idea what magnitude of a substage i will need to match this. My roomie has a little 8" rockford P1 hooked up to reciever power, and it gets decently loud in his tiny room.

I need a setup that will be decently loud in my room, as well as a 2 car garage....

I was thinking along the lines of a 15 and 500 watts. Will this be enough to match up decently, or will i be lacking bass when i throw this in the garage?

15 and 500 watts.
if its 500 rms it should be loud enough for bass heads, even in the garage.
definately RMS

another issue is....who makes true 500RMS plate amps? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i have a tc2000 12 i use and it sounds really good, 3.5cubes @ 20hz, is this gonna be for mainly music or any movies?

mach5 subs seem to be good for cheaper

dayton off PE

Creative sound

if its for music, you could probably use a type r to get loud if you dont need to dig down low

depends on how much bass you want really,i wish now i woulda went with a 15

either a plate amp or rack amp, i use a behringer ep2500, bought it used for 250, supposed to do 2500@4ohms mono, probably a good bit less but still plenty of power for a single sub, only thing you will probably need some type of processor with line driver and xovers since its pro audio, plate amps have these features built in usually but for the power are gonna be more expensive
