Help me choose! PLZ

Hello guys. I am very new to this car stero stuff. I have a brand new honda accord 2008 coupe. It comes with a so called "premium" sound system. However, i dont see anything premium in it. The speakers are good, and so are the tweeters. But the subwoofer, is a joke. It totally farts after 75% volume, which is not even that loud. So i took my car to a local car audio shop. The guy reviewed the sound quality and all and concluded that the speakers/headunit/tweeters are nice and powerful but the system barely produces any bass. In other words, the sub must be trashed and replaced.

I am on a low budget. The guy said all i need is a new amp, and a pair of subs, and a custom ported box. I asked him for a quote and the type of setup hes going to use. He said he will put two JL audio subs 10" each, 400watts peak each, and a JL audio amp which would run the two subs to their full potential, and a custom ported enclosure for the car. With installation and everything, around $750 out the door.

What do you guys think? Is this good enough? Can i get better product for the price? Im just not sure what to do. I dont want to be ripped off. He said it will sound super good and will blow my mind away. $100x2 per sub, $300 for amp, $150 for enclosure, and $100 for installation/wiring/fitting. Thats the breakdown he gave me. Please reply.

the entire system including installation and custom enclosure is 750. components by themself are just 500. what do u think?

i'll try to find out. like i said, im new to this and dont know any technical terms. just want to get a decent upgrade to my car's stock. dont want to spend too less, nor too much.

buy those jl subs, pry a better series than the shop is trying to sell u.

buy that rockford fosgate...just about equal to the jl amp.

THan have the shop build u a box(or even buy one off here, gonna be cheaper) and have them install it. But if u know what ur doin and read up on here, install it urself(not that difficult).

ull pry be right at 500 w/ install. Ur than saving 250$ and go buy some drugs and strippers.

but if ur installing it urself and buy a box off here, ull pry save 300 to 350$.

yep just getting a new amp, subs, and box. box is custom built for the car and its trunk space to minimize space taking.

you guys are right. 750 is a bit too much. i dont think i can do the installation myself i dont want to mess anything up. i might buy a prebuilt box either from here or his shop. it will be cheaper instead of custom one. if i can talk him down to a 500ish range i think it will be ok. 550 otd hopefully.
