Help me check my alternators amps??

Hey guys i was wondering how you go about checking your alternator to see how many amps it is? do i hook a multi meter to it and see what it reads? if so what setting do i put it on?

also what would be recommended if i am running 2 sundown 1000D amps?

someone post a quick rely to help me out!!

you need to full field it and check current with a clamp

okay i am a noob at this full field it? and a clamp? a c-clamp... dee on me! lol. sorry i am new to alternator testing. can you explain a little deeper? please

you need to tell the alternator to output full current...to do this, you run 12v to the field on the alternator

then clamp this and read the amperage

is this your stock alt? why not just look up in info about ur car and see what amp alt is in it?
