Help me check my alternators amps??

Hey guys i was wondering how you go about checking your alternator to see how many amps it is? do i hook a multi meter to it and see what it reads? if so what setting do i put it on?

also what would be recommended if i am running 2 sundown 1000D amps?

someone post a quick rely to help me out!!

okay i am a noob at this full field it? and a clamp? a c-clamp... dee on me! lol. sorry i am new to alternator testing. can you explain a little deeper? please
