Help me calculate my port tuning freq...here's the box specs and pics...

Hey guys,

I helped my friend pickup two like new12w3v2's in a ported box for $230, and we're wondering what it's tuned to.

The box has shared chambers with a support panel in the middle. That middle panel is cut out with rounded corners.

Inner chamber dimensions (this is of one chamber, not including the middle support panel):

11.75'' x 20'' x 13.75''

Middle Panel dimensions:

3/4'' wood, 7.75'' x 16''

Port dimensions:

6.25'' x 2'' x 16.75''

If my math is right, your enclosure is 3.269 cubic feet, after all displacements, and your ports are tuned to 32.30 hertz with a port area of 25 inches, though that's all depending on how accurate your "internal measurements" are and how closely I interpreted them. looks like a horribly tuned box to me, it peaks around 60 hertz in winisd.

internal measurements are pretty accurate as i did them myself. outter dimensions are approx 30'' L x 22''W x 13''H. now my friend took the outter measurements....so theoretically they are on point but might be off a tad.

download tones. Play them with the woofers in the box. The point where the cones move the least is your tuning frequency. Much easier and more reliable than math that will be off due to boundary loading alot of times anyway. Use a tone generator that comes with alot of programs, WINISD, audacity, etc or just get them from a torrent and put on a ipod or cd.
