Im just stopping back in to see if the gains were ever set properly. ;//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
tommorow the gains will be set and the power wire will be moved to the battery.

Yes, just continue to ignore the solution and continue biching.

I think that it is B.S that the box is heading the sub that much. And why would the sub be bottoming out at half gain then in my box if its too small?

And as far as wiring it to the battery, what difference would that make? The amp is measuring 12.8 volts which sounds about right. Doesn't that mean the amp is getting enough power? Moving it from the fusebox to the battery doesn't even sound like it would do anything for my problem.

Because its the wrong box...

So putting it in a bigger ported box will qaudruple the output, and make it stop bottoming out and clipping? Because i don't wanna build a box for it, and have the same problem. Ive had like 5 people today tell me that the sub doesn't seem like it can handle the amp, and that when i turn it to levels where it should be hitting hard, it just falls on its face and starts clipping.

The box is more than important than the woofer when it comes to SQ.

(you can make even the shittiest of woofers sound great and get loud with the right box)

Sound Quality is 100% fine right now. The problem is the complete lack of output as well as the clipping.

Definitely get your power wiring set straight to the battery!

.. and like I told you in our email correspondance, your box sounds like it's between 0.8 - 0.85 cu ft net, which is honestly just too small for how most people prefer their RL-p's. It'll still sound good, and some people actually don't mind the muted low-end, but when dropping below 1.2 cu ft net you will start to stifle the low-frequency extension and overall output.

If you get your wiring checked out / redone, and you throw that RL-p12 in a 1.25 cu ft net sealed box (or better yet, a 1.5 cu ft net ported box tuned to 34 Hz), you will undoubtedly notice a drastic improvement in output. Glad to hear repositioning your enclosure helped somewhat, but you really need to get the power issue solved, and throw that sucka in a bigger box - you'll be glad you did!

He said his box was 1.1 cu ft... putting it in the recommended 1.25 cu ft isn't going to make his sub suddenly come to life. Porting it will increase output, but that would just be sweeping all of his other problems under the rug.

What i think he should do before you're whole box obsession, would be to reposition the power wire and get it correctly connected to the battery, set his gains correctly, and to continue playing around with box placement.

yes, dude from what I have read sounds like the wrong enclosure. I have a mtx in a sealed 1.25cube box. It hits hard. .89 seems way to small for 1200rms.

Everything else is fine.

From what I've heard there is more excursion in the sealed boxes then the ported. So thats why its bottoming out.

build a box, port it. or find a friend that has something bigger and put it in it to see if that helps.

Avg ppl around here run 2-3cu ft ported for this monster.

Build a f*cking box. (bigger sealed) Or port it.

Also, that one dude had 2 RL-I and they were popping (not jabbing at SS at all because i plan on making a purchase.) So best thing is to switch out your amp or find a frined who is running a 15". That will solve your problem.

Build a f*cking ported box. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1one1111

Why do I think they weren't. Also why do I think the only thing he needs to fix his problem is a multimeter or new box, which have both been mentioned. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif keep it coming guys lets hit 1k posts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Yes its the gain, your absolutely right nobody in this entire thread has thought of it before, you are such a genius.

Theres no way way a different enclosure will give him better output with good SQ, its all in the gain.
