Help! IPod to HU not working right.

Alright so today I hooked up my ipod to my pioneer HU using a 1/8th to rca and then a auxilary adapter. I didn't use the official CD-RB10 and instead I used a cheap alternative http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5788840328

The problem is though that when I select AUX and my iPod is playing through my speakers, the sound is very quite and no sound at all is coming out of my subs.

When I listen to the tuner/cd everything works fine.

Everything looked like it was hooked up fine, could it just be that I used a cheap item that sucked?

shouldnt have anything to do with it, a wire is a wire, try turning up the volume on ipod or raising input level in cd player

Well the reason I think it might be that is because if you look at a real cd-rb10

It has some sort of convertor box thing that the cheapy on e I bought doesnt have.
