So between now and the beginning of January I would like to have a nice setup.

I have about 3-4k, maybe more depending how things go, to spend...

I know absolutely the minimal when it comes to car audio... which is why I'm here asking you guys! I've read around the forums for awhile but I've found most of the things don't apply to me so I decided to make my own thread..

SO, I'm looking for mostly SQ, but I want it to be able to go loud if I would like it to as well... I listen to alot of Drum and bass, hip-hop and rap music... as welll as many other generes but those ones mainly.

Also the car is a 98 Volkswagen Jetta TDI,

I'll be running an 18 wheeler battery in her, with 1000 crank so the battery aspect will be covered but other than that everything else is yet to be purchased.. I'm hoping to have this done and installed by the end of december.

Provide me with some insightful knowledge,

and help me make this happen! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

any help or opinions are appreciated.

IDQ's and some germaniums
how do the germaniums stack up to the profi phase plugs? i notice the profi's run 30 more watts rms compared to the germaniums... so is it just me or are the plugs the better option?

I can the profi phase 2-ways for $500 us nib.

and what do you mean by IDQ's?

image dynamics is the brand

3-4G can get you a nice setup. There's a lot of options in that price range. If you don't know much about car audio you may want to visit some local shops that could do the install. Listen to what they have to offer. Car Audio and Electronics just listed their Best of 2007 in the latest issue. That'd be a good place to start.

yeah but if you go to a local store listen to all they have and ignore the price tags. Sometimes you can trick yourself out if you think something sounds better because it is more expensive.

Or maybe thats just me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif.

No, that's true. You just have to go into a place reminding yourself of that. I must have drove the guy at Car Tunes NUTS asking him to go back and forth between different setups. The Diamond D9's won out in the end. Of course... The most expensive set they had up there. I'm going with Rainbow and Audison in my truck though.

well the phase plugs are prolly better but your gonna need alot of money for the installation unless you plan to do it yourself. and getting a good SQ install is no easy task.

Image Dynamics IDQ. great SQ sub. get like 4 of them and it will get real loud but still sound great.

Well I was hoping I could aquire the knowledge to do the installation myself..

And I dont know if I'd have that much room for 4 subs in the trunk...

I was hoping to put no more than 2 12's in there..

know how the IDMAX are for SQ?

IDQ > IDMAX for SQ but the IDQs can go sealed. a jetta's trunk isnt THAT small. but 2 IDMAXs would work too. thats like 2kw RMS that would be pretty **** loud for a n00b. i wouldnt rule out the IDQs though.

youre gonna need to read ALOT in order to do a good install. if its not good, your basically wasting your money on good equipment cause youre not seeing its full potential. i wish u the best of luck though. theres a thread by squeak about comp installs. its pretty good, go off that for your comp install. and theres plenty of other good threads for deadening and box building and such.
