Heyy guys and gals, super new to the car audio scene but i already love it.

I love it but i have a problem. I know very little about car audio but this is my story. -

Im 15 and geting a car after awhile. I was suposed to get a 02-05 silverado, instead im geting my dads 04 jeep liberty untill, im a senior and then im geting a newer truck.

Anyway my buddy has got a 98 chevy and has three 12's and a thosand watt sony xplod amp, and side speakers, and it sounds bad in his truck.

He didnt spend anything but for the amp kit since he alredy had it.

Im not that lucky, but part of the deal of me geting the liberty instead of the truck is my mom gives me 1000 bucks to hop it up.

I want to make it sound as good or hopefully better then my friends.

I dont know much about his system besides the side speakers and sony xplods and so is the amp, the three 12's in the back are 400 watt.

So, does anyone have any help and suggestions to help me and a kick'in system?

If you have any links on what i should get that would be great.

P.S.- Me and the same buddy are hooking it up, so i will be fine. Also will $1000 be plenty or no?

Thanks- Parch.

1000 should be good for a starter system.what exactly do u plan on getting in the car?

head unit, subs, speakers amps, wires?
Ha, i dont really know much but i know i want some good subs, speakers, an amp, and a stero i can use my ipod with.

The stero inside right now is not stock, it's the one that came with the XM radio.

Thanks for the help guys.

Welcome, lets start.

To begin with, for 1,000 dollars you will shit on your friends system. Period. No questions asked.

Number two - don't hook it up. You and your friend are young, and honestly probably have little to no experience in car audio. You will fock something up, possible burn up the car. Get with someone on the forum who knows what they're doing, buy them dinner, and get them to help you. Best advice you can get

Now, do you want all out loud, do you want sound quality, what are you looking for?

Also, welcome. Read before you ask //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

As for hooking the system up my friends dad used to work in a body shop and seems to know alot about cars and trucks, he fixed the liberty after geting into a hit and run to the side.

I was thinking he would be able to help..you think that would be ok?

Anyways i want it to sound good, i also love the bass..im really into the rap scence.

I want the bass to be loud and but i also want it to have clairty.

Thanks, Parch.

Also, like i said im almost a total n00b when it comes to this.

So what all will i need? What is a "head unit"?

I also looked at a post some where and they said Jeep Libertys side speakers ( what are the called? ) are powered from stock with two very small amps, and to hook a new system up you will have to rewire the whole car?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

If you research how to do the install you should be fine. If you are not sure you did something right make sure before you try it.

A head unit is basically what you plug everything into. If you know anything about home audio its kind of like the receiver. Basic ones have Radio/CD/ipod hookups but you can get some pretty kicked up ones

Research everything, and do it yourself. You might be out there for a while, but it will be well wroth the lesson learned. It'll safe you a sh*t load of money in the long run. Read up on the forums, google it, and do what every else is necessary. Also get to your car first and fore most. Find were to run your wires, find your firewall, know what size alt your have, and buy a good front battery. Dont get trash, and also dont buy anything Sony period, espically a d*mn xplode. They ****. Also another tip, buy online.

Ive been looking around the web, and have a plan on were to run the wires.

I still am stuck on what to get.

Could anybody tell me from experience, what are some good 15's, amp, head unit, and stero..and around how much it would cost?

I was thinking about these -
