help, i need 2 18s!

well if u have the money id go with the SSX18's but they are not cheap. a fully loaded btl can be had for like 500 give or take never really looked it up. but those are definetly leaned more towards SPL. but u can make them musical sorta by building the correct box. XXX18 will give u best of both worlds but its kinda in the price range of the treo now also. not as good of quality as the treo ssx but **** near.

people can give u ideas all day long but without knowing an actual price range to go off of nobody will ever know.

all the bandwagon jumpers will jump on the BTL18 cuz steve meade has 4 in his ride daily. but i think personally the Q would be the sub of choice in ur case. if u go with the BTL u have to have to have the power for it also. its not a sub u can really underpower and do well with. if its anything like the MT which everyone knows it pretty much is.

but the choice is up to you. lots of money = better products which = better quality. in most cases.

go with one BLT and use the rest of that cash to just beef up the electrical....shit 4kW daily for a beast like that will sound nice. stick it in a low tuned box and the SQ wont be nearly as hanious as a higher tuned box....you're only getting 3 more dB by spending that extra 500 on another sub, not to mention youd have to double ur power to get that extra 3dB..... when you can spend that money on other things to help backup the system....why underpower 2 beast subs when you can have 1 beast with ample power....

just something to consider, if you have ur mind set on 2 then go for it, but with just one 18, a good install, and hella power fo it....it'd seem like an option to look into.....

I had been thinking of just doing one, but hell whats the fun in that? lol

But of course considering I dont want to pay more than $400-$450 for each sub, and considering the space I have which is my 95 Ext. cab Silverado.

and if you're going to pay 450 a sub, why not pay 500 and just get a fully loaded btl? 2000w would be enough for it... or even better if you haven't gotten the amps yet get more power

Word man. There are some people out there who will cling to that to the death though. that's exactly what my boss said. at first, one solo x 18(5.5 cubes @ 36hz) and 4kwrms. and it was loud and fairly musical. but it wasn't enough. now he has two s18xs(7.375 cubes each @ 30hz), the same 4kwrms and he's still not loud enough, lol. though he gained 3 db measured across the board (he does 140 legal at 25hz on a tl), he's seriously wanting to upgrade power next. and his escalade is already falling apart.

i vote the BTLs. not because i'm on some bandwagon, but rather, from reviews, they have done very well, are backed by a good guy (unlike treo IME) and will offer you the potential to up power later on and get really silly loud. and retain sq acccording to people i talk too.
