Help Finding the Hidden Power Amp in a Mercury Montego

Hello: I've been a lurker for a while but reluctant to join and show my lack of knowledge.

I am looking to do a new car stereo install and would like to keep and use the existing door speaker wires (wires only). I am worried that there might be a hidden power amp somewhere. They say if there is one, it might be in the rear deck; whatever that means.

I have a 2005 Mercury Montego with a 6 CD changer and 4 door speakers. It is perfect for "talk radio", which means it sounds pretty/very bad.

Any idea where the rear deck is and might it be somewhere else? If so, where? I'd say more but already feel a little foolish asking. I don't own a volt meter and wouldn't know how to use one if I had one.

Pop your trunk and look under where ur rear speaker is located should b a black box with a harness going into it with lots of wire or just Google factory amp location for ur car
