Help Finding a Good Combo

I was originally going to get 2 12" Kicker Comp VR subs in the Kicker ported box with an 1800 Kenwood amp and wire them into 1 ohm on the amp. Alot of people thought that it was a bad idea and thought I could get better subs and amps for the price.

Im looking to spend $500 tops for a sub, amp, and box. Any ideas on what I should take a look at? Im willing to buy used stuff from here, but dont trust eBay further than I can throw it. This stuff will be going into a '99 Grand Prix GT. Id like to keep it down to a single sub because of the limited trunk space in a coupe.

if you want sealed grab a pair of fi q's or just get one 15 Q if you got the money should run you around 200 bucks or so. Then find a nice amp to give you around 1krms for 200 and buy a sheet of mdf for 50 bucks build your own box

if you must not get a custom built box or build your own then go cheap and buy a prefab until you get the cash for a built box

I only want 1 sub that is just as loud if not louder than the 2 12" Kicker Comp VRs. It saves on trunk space. With a 3 year old I need trunk space in a daily driver.

look into aq, maybe a type-r, re, or fi...they are all great choices for the money.
