Help Designing Box For HDS312

School wifi failure ahaha, that picture didn't want to load. But that actually doesn't look bad at all. For the 15" port length, is that per 4"port?
Yes, you'd want three 4" aeros that are each 15" long

3 you mean? And I'll probably have to top mount the subs as most aeros I saw an outer diameter of about 6", so I dont know how I could fit those with the 2 sub cutouts

Yeah, three my bad. Is there enough space to stack the aeros on top of each other

That wouldn't work at my max height is 16" and their diameter is 6" (6" * 3" = 18" )

Another possibility is a single 6" aero thats 10" long. My only question about this is the port area is 6.22 in^2 per ft^3. Would this be enough port area to use? A single port would be much easier to work with.

I would want more port area but that's just me. Have you ever considered hitting up CSCStang about him building a box?

I did actually talk to him about it. Nothing against him, he does some really amazing work, but I would rather spend $100 to build it myself and really make if my own than just pay him to do it all for me.

37 width - 1.5 thickness = 35.5 - 25 (outer diameter total of the subs) = 10 x 16 inches of port baffle area, you can absolutely fit 3 4" aeros in a side pyramid like configuration.

Do yourself a favor and buy a heat gun , metal/ceramic bowl and 4" x 10 feet pvc pipe at home depot/lows/menards/plumbing supply store. Should not cost you more than 40 dollars total(significantly less if you have a heat gun already) and you can adjust how big the flares will be if you do it yourself and save a lot of money. Those pre-made aeros cost an arm and a leg. As you said, make it your own, dont have other people make your ports for you haha

Its still on the low end of the port area spectrum but you wont get port noise according to winisd. Side loading is a lot of times pretty crappy in trunks

I'd go with a low port area but properly loading/firing to the rear(same direction as subs) over high port area but side ported anyday.

Okay, so after playing around in Sketchup, here's what I came up with:

Proper%20Fitting%20Port.png

You can see the sub's cutout, the outer diameter of the subs, the cutouts of the aeroports (4.5 inch diameter) and the aeroports outer diameter (5 inches). With this setup, I will have to make sure when I make my ports that they come out exactly as wide as specified. For this box, Torres has it at 4.44 ft^3, tuned to 34.6 Htz with a port length of 14". I also factored in 2, 2" diameter 14.5" lengths of wooden dowels for some bracing.

What do you guys think?
