[help] computer issues

I went out and bought a new hard drive and installed windows xp home on it just last night. Now I wanted to put my old hard drive in and copy all of my pictures and crap from the old one, but I can't. It gives me an access denied prompt.

How can I get in to get all of my pictures?

OOOOORR you can just get a gizmo that makes IDE drives External.

Make sure its on the slave end of the cable and the jumper is set to slave.

Done tried, it wont boot.

It is, I can get to any of the other files except that one folder.

Its from when I had my old comp I had my folders and crap set to private.

Nevermind, I finally figured it out..........

Ok...when you have the "make private" checkbox, that means you have simple file sharing enabled (whichis the default)....

Go to control panel -> Folder options -> View tab

All the way at the bottom, clear the "use simple file sharing". This let's you see what the security access levels really are for that folder.

So go to properties for that folder & you should see a Security tab.

Before you do anything, make a note of the current user/group access & respective privileges for that folder in notepad or something.

I'm not sure if this would work or not, but try to add "Administrators" to the list with Full Control selected? Or remove everything, and just have "Administrators"?
