Well, if money is your limiting factor, for the same money as a pair of Alpine Type R's from Crutchfield, from another source you can get some Phoenix Gold RSd65cs's and a Profile amp, about $180 total. It will sound 10x better than even the best speakers running without an amp.

if your not going to amp them then i would just go with some nice low powered coax's like some infinity reference or similar. check ebay for them you can usually pick them up cheap. i have a nice set of eclipse 6.5 in three ways i will sell ya for 35 bux shipped.

Does anyone know how much modification it takes to fit 6.5's in the doors of a Ranger?
You could use a bracket like this:

http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?showAll=N&g=103200&i=142SA68&tp=919&avf=N

But it would probably be better to make something similar out of MDF. This will let you drop in 5.25" round speakers no problem. To put in 6.5" speakers, there might be a little extra work, hard to say.

Also a link to the amp?

Hope this helps!
