Help Choosing a Box

Hello,

I'm adding a single 10" sub to my system. I chose the http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/PIOTSW254C -- Pioneer TS-W254C (gonna be hooked up to a Rockford Fosgate Punch 300S) and the description says use a small, sealed box; recommended size is .80 cu. feet. I found a small, sealed box from Q-Logic, but it's size is .65 cu. feet. http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/QLCQLH6510SX Link to box.

Will this work okay? I might try building a box later on, but right now this will do.

I suggest you build a box, a smalled sealed box could be done in under an hour. Around 1 cu ft before displacements sounds about right, but ask Jmac about that.

You mean I can't use my bass remote? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif That's the only reason I wanted that amp. (Note so far I've only ordered the sub and 8 guage wiring kit, haven't ordered the amp or box yet).

Oh, and where can I buy an MDF box?

Oh, okay thank you! That does save a good bit of cash! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :)

I have a single 10, pioneer same as about, 90 watts rms and its really quite loud, shakes mirror a little to violently and the seat vibrate nicely if your back is sore its works well as a massage while you listen to your music..

Originally posted by Jmac If you haven't ordered the amp yet, I would downgrade. That sub is rated at 250 RMS and is not underrated. The 300S is rated at 300 RMS into 4 ohms mono, but actually does more like 350 RMS. Add bass boost and oh god will that sub die fast ...

The 200S would be more appropriate and save you some cash //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
hey that's a nice amp

i have it

it was running an orion XTR 10"....in a 1.6 cubic feet box ported

that thing pounded...the sub took a big beating...even with the bass boost at 2/3

buy the amp...but dont use your bass boost...if u wanna use it...consider another sub //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Hey Jmac, I saw in another thread that you participated in about how you were talking about the bad sound quality of RF amps and you were recommending Premier Amps. Well, I was looking at the PRS-X220 now. It only puts out 120w but I think that would be enough for my one sub, agree?

You can Email or Call GP Audio and they can make some adjustments to make the enclosure shorter and either deeper or longer on the Glue and screw...

Not at all, amplifiers have gain control to attenuate the output to safe levels.

I've moved this post to installations. Can't work out how to delete it here.
