Help: Best way to uupload video?

I just recently bought a video camera and was wondering what the best way to upload the footage off the cam. to pc is? I don't have a firewire connection on my pc, so someone suggested buying the add on and plugging into the back of my pc. Are these hard to install/ the best way to go about uploading it? Or would a USB 2.0 be better? Im pretty clueless.

isn't firewire just a different sized cable or am i missing something?(not counting the ability to transfer information)

i didn't think you had to install firewire(other than the simple software that came with it) let alone call it a complicated install? unless you have to install a firewire port

Yeah I would have to install the port. I don't really see a spot on my computer where it would just slide in, not unless its hidden by the plastic.

i didn't feel like installing a second network card in my computer, so i just had the geek squad at best buy do it. it came free with the purchase of the card and they had it done by the time i got bored of browsing the store. sounds like a good bet for you.

Would something like this convert my drive to a 2.0? Or would it still run at the slow rate of a usb 1.1?

firewire is faster than USB and is a different port Macs use firewire for that reason. some cameras are firewire only not USB compatible but if you have USB on your camera and USB on your computer by all means use what you have transfer might take an etra 5 minutes on a full hour video but big shit.

You go from Firewire to usb 2 to usb 1.1.

Pick one, they are all different.

If your pc is 1.1 it will only be 1.1 unless u buy a card that is 2.0.

Firewire, if your pc doesnt have it, you have to buy a card for your pc in order to have it.
