Help : Annoying Clicking/Popping noises

Well, I have been wandering throughout the forum for a little bit and I now have something to post. Just recently my sound system has been giving me a little issue. I keep hearing popping/clicking noises coming from my speakers. It seems to almost be affected by RMP's rather than just car movement, but movement does play into the situation it seems. When this clicking happens it also cuts sound coming from the speakers, almost like the cd is skipping, but the clicking also occurs even with the HU turned off and when using the radio. It is really annoying to be driving around with constant little clicks coming through with no rythm or reason it seems. I have a feeling it is a grounding issue but I did not do any stereo installations since I recieved the car, so I don't really know where to look. If I could get a little guidence as to where to start looking that would be great.

I would most def. check your speaker wires. I had a similar problem once. One of the terminals on the speaker was just close enough to the door frame that it would touch sometimes just driving down the road. Repositioned the speaker and it solved the problem.

Alright, those sound like good places to start. I would like to redo this whole setup, but I'm too poor. Just has to last a little longer...

Well, I looked into both the grounds and the speakers. The grounds looked fine from what I can tell, they were nice and tightly help down. I looked at he speakers and they looked good in condition. Now, after i put the speaker back into the door and try to listen to the radio I get no sound, no speakers working at all. The wiring was pretty cheap and poor quality looking (probably stock). Is there any saving this current system? I don't know whether it is the HU, speakers, or wiring, because I really don't know much about when and how it was installed. Any other ideas are welcome.

Update: Sorry for the double post

I drove the car to school this morning and I still get the clicking, its almost a constant clicking now and it seems to be coming out of all speakers. I don't know what to look for...

x2 that:word:

I never messed with anything before this happened. So, either something got nocked loose or the components are starting to show their age. I'd be interested to pull out he HU just to see what condition everything is in and mabe get a better idea of how it is wired.

Another thing you may check is the RCA'a on the deck. I have see the bare metal of an RCA get into a position that it was grounding against the metal framing of the dash.

Your problem still sounds to me like a grounding issue from what your describing. Keep after it and keep us updated.

yea, if that is the problem and the install is 100% good, then it is usually the deck. there are numerous variables though. i would start by just sliding in another deck and testing it. if it still happens then the deck is eliminated. go on to the next component. but first double and triple check the entire install.
