I have a 96 integra ls. I put in an auxilary battery to have enough power for my SPL 2400w amp and a sony xplod 800w amp. With the SPL im power 2 12" kicker comp vr122. With the sony xplod im powering 2 6.5" menace midrange speakers and 1 10" menace midrange speaker. Everything is grounded good. All connections are secure. The system worked flawlessly for a couple days. Then my voice (speakers connected to xplod) started going in and out. The amp stays on though. You cant put it loud or it will go out. Its gotten to the point where it comes on for a very short time. my bass was turned down to compensate for the voice going in and out. But today i turned bass up to where it was and the same thing started happening with the bass. I dont know whats going on. Both amps worked flawlessly before this setup. Where did i go wrong? I wired up the battery with 2 inline fuses. Grounded the second battery. Then wired up the amps normally. I did forget to add inline fuses to the power wires for the amps though. I will do that tomorrow. Im just trying to see if anybody has some advice. Thanks..

Sounds like you have your gains set too high and are clipping your amps. What did you use to set your gains?

Use a DMM to set your gains. I can almost guarantee your gains are set way too high and thats why you are cutting in and out.
My DMM isnt working right but i did mess around with the gains. First, when the bass was hitting the xplod (voice amp) lights were dimming. so i think that the gains definently have to be adjusted. Im gonna charge up my aux battery and then mess with the gains again. thanks for the help ill let you know what happens.

If your lights are dimming, that means you car's electrical system cannot support your sound system. What size is your alternator?

Alright, I don't want to be a jerk. But when I was in HS the only people who called the midranges "voice" where the...well, to put it frankly. Idiots.

Not trying to be a jerk, I want to know where you learned that colloquialism.

Anyways, welcome to CA.com! Listen to Ion, he knows what he's talking about.

The amp lights were only dimming. My aux battery was on 7% percent... Lookslike im gonna have to be charging it up every sooften until i upgrade my alt. And my alt is stock.
