HELP! amp turns on but nothing playing

i just got 2 sa 12 d2's and a cadence zrs c65 amp. I hooked everything up and wired it up but i dont know what the issue is, my amp turns on fine but the subs aren't playing anything i can't figure it out i wired them in series/parallel so there at 2 ohms. any suggestions?

Could be a bad amp. Use a DMM and check the speaker leads for voltage

i dont have one should i try running one sub at 4 ohms to try narrowing it down?

This is probably not what you want to hear, but you should really buy one. A DMM is almost a necessary tool to have in car audio...

Get even a cheapo DMM if you want to. It may not be as accurate, but it can help you out sometimes to see if you have something working or not.

You can put another amp in and see how that one goes. Anyone around you have an amp you can borrow?

sadly right now no one i know has an amp.. but how much does a dmm cost for a cheap one even?

Yes, you can go to Wal-Mart and buy a DMM for $10 then do the test I described. Without a DMM there is no accurate way to test if your amp is working or not; however, if you wish to go on a wild goose chase, be my guest...

Yep, set the DMM to DC voltage (or AC, I don't remember to be honest), take the speaker wire out and put the probes of the DMM in to measure for voltage.

I gave him some "home brew" options through IM that should tell us more about what could be wrong.
