Ok well i have read everyhting to do with setting the gain on an amp and i still am just not getting it and i derf. cannot do the math for some reason. so i am asking for help please i have an xtant a2002 amp running a pair of cadence components at 4ohms. i ned to know what to set the gain to, i also have a xtant 121m running a single idq12 d4. i have the sub wired down so the amp will see a 2 ohm load, i also need to know what the set the gain to. now the 121m is rated at 250x1@2ohms now i hear that this amp is under rated will that change anything? and the a2002 is rated at

sorry if its in the wrong forum but thanks for all your help

rms power desired times the impedence. then you want the square root of that number

so 250x2=500. and the square root of 500 is 22.36 volts.

hope this makes sense.

btw the calculator on your computer can do all of this.

you have to match the output on the head unit to the input on the amp (thats what the gain really is). If you dont want to do the math (or cant tell where the voltage marks are on the amp), there are test cd's out there that will determine clipping points. Keep in mind though, not all source units have a definable clipping point same thing for amps
