So here is my situation:

Upgrading subs and amp. Im ,looking for sound quality, as I have a very eclectic taste in music, but I also love hip hop and want to be able to hit those deep notes loud and clearly.

So far, this is what I’m considering:

2 JL 12W3V3-4 12” inch

Or

Infinity 120,9Wp 12” inch

What do you guys think about these subs? And would they fit my specific needs? Both are at probably in the high limit of what im willing to pay. Any other suggestions?

AMP(s)

I want to make sure I give my subs all the power required to run at their peak performance. Im thinking 1000rms 2 ways will be sufficient.

Also, I just want to confirm, that if I got dvc 4 ohm subs I would want an amp with high output at 2 ohms. And if I got dvc 2ohm subs, high output at 1ohm. (Assuming they were paralel wired)

Comments on any or all of this will be greatly appreciated!

If you want to sound good ... the jls (tuned to around 28 to 32 htz) sound good with a jl amp ... I personally don't like to mix/match equipment ...

If you want sound Quality ... I personally wouldn't wire anything under a 4 ohm mono load to preserve headroom ... (just my suggestion) also, Id concentrate on getting my front stage to play as low as possible before starting on a sub stage to make everything blend in together for staging and imageing ... again (just my suggestion) ...

best of luck to ya sir ...

No reason not to mix equipment. No one company makes the best of everything.

As far as power to the subs, having a good amp is more important than trying to exactly match RMS ratings for subs. The JL W3v3 series are all single voice coil subs so you would want to wire them in parallel with each other which gives you half the impedance of the single driver and match your sub amp to that. If you think that 1000w is what you want, determine a budget and find an amp within your budget that makes the power you want. From there match the subs to the impedance that the amp makes its power at.

As mentioned, getting the front stage right is much more important to the overall sound of the system. That is where I would dedicate the majority of my budget.
