HELP! 800RMS AMP to a 1200RMS ENCLOSURE?! YAY OR NAY?

So I have a MTX TE801D Amp along with a 5 farad Cap. I had 2 T7500s lifted out of my SUV last year and i still have my amp and cap. My buddy was about to sell me his Sub Enclosure that has 3 12" subs in it and im worried that my AMP could be severly under-powering it. His box contains 2 Alpine Type Es and 1 Polk SR.

My amp is Rated at 800watts RMS, but measured at 900RMS according to the birth cert.

The box is sealed all wired to 1ohm. The Alpine Type E is rated at 250RMS each while the Polk SR 12 is rated at 700RMS by itself. So if i do the math correctly, the box has a total power rating at 1200RMS...... Would that be a bad thing to hook up my 800RMS amp to this setup? Would I lose a whole lot of SQ or should i look for subs in the 600-800RMS range?

PS. The reason I was looking at this setup was because he's selling it for only $150, which is a steal alone for the Polk SR.

Take it and throw the box away or sell it......never mix subs in a box. Stupid. Sell the e's and keep the SR, build a box for it. Sell that cap too, waste of money. Use your amp to power the SR. Enjoy life.

Thanks for all the quick replies!

I suppose i should also mention that he could sell me a TE1501D MTX 1500RMS Mono block to go with the setup at $200, which again would be another steal. But if i do that, i'll be in the lookout for another SR and try to have a box built for 2 Polk SR's. I have my 4 Polk MOMO 5x7 powered by a MTX TE3404, which is why I use the cap. I'm using the Cap as basically a splitter. But that would be spending a whole lot of money and time to build a box and rewire my amp since I am running only a 4AWG wiring and with a system like that would require at least 0/1 AWG...

so instead of doing something like that would you just recommend stick with my current amp and just build a box for just this one SR 12? I was hoping to have something comparable to what i had before, which was 2 MTX T7500 in a Sledgehammer vented box. Somehow, i feel like having just this 1 single SR won't be enough for me but i haven't heard it yet to see if this 1 sub could compete with 2 T7500's... opinions?

if you havent heard a single twelve out beat 2 7500s you havent heard many systems. ive personally seen 2 8inchers put twelves to shame. i say take the 1 sr and run it off that amp in a GOOD box. people dont understand its the box that makes the subwoofer work properly. but i must say that the polk is not a spl sub it is geared toward sq but will get decently loud

no i mean a proper box built to sub specs not something you just go pick up at bestbuy. get in contact with some of the builders on here fishercustoms, amicreations and many others look at the build logs and find these people or post in the enclosure section looking for a design or someone to actually build the thing.

ps: sometimes a larger box can yield bad results and big ports often yield higher numbers but frequency response is cut to certain frequencies or is peaky

do some research my guess is 2.25 cubes tuned to 34hz with 15sq inches of port per cube; that or sealed at 1.6cubes

Alright, last question here. He also has 2 12" Polk MOMO subs in an enclosure used for about 2 years he said for $80, which is another great deal. Now opinions on 2 12 MOMO's vs a single 12" SR?
