Helix Comps?

Been looking at these:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3587

Only trouble is I've had a lot of trouble finding much about the company or the general feeling towards their comps.
Helix is a subsidiary of Brax, a very high end car audio manufacturer. Helix is their "more affordable" product line compared to the Brax offerings (though some of the Helix products are still pretty expensive for the common enthusiast, just not as expensive as Brax).

Helix, in general, is a very good brand. Though I don't know much about that particular speaker model.

Though keep in mind that "underpowering" is only relative to a speakers rated power handling. 50w per channel would get most speakers to a more than adequate listening level.

What's your budget for speakers ?

lookin to spend around 200 bucks at most. Didn't know they were a subsidary of Brax though, I've always heard Brax touted as an insanely elite brand.

those sound very good, you will be happy. the next line above those is actually made by brax. to be honest, i couldn't justify the $100 more for the set above those. i didn't notice much difference.

helix's first couple lower lines are made in the orient. to their specs, and they sound better than most in their price point imo. about their 3rd sku on up, is made by brax.

we used to be helix dealers before lufrano got genesis and then what ever happened between him and brax/helix.

when helix got a new importer...... we had already replaced with DLS, and we're staying with dls.

You may have looked this over already but if you haven't, here's their website.

I linked to the opening page because you can select the english version from there.
Thanks lol, I am going to buy these based on the sexiness of that speaker in their splash page background alone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Before I grab these, can anyone who has heard them describe the tweeter character?

I like a harshish tweeter unlike most of the people here. I listen to a lot of aggressive rock (along with everything else from classical to rap) but I like to almost feel pain from the blaring high pitched guitar.

Maybe I'm a masochist but it's just something I enjoy about high end audio, and if there's anything I've learned here its that everyone has unique tastes for SQ.

Alright I'm too curious now I'll take the plunge and let you know what I thought //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if you like the harsh tweet, get mbq's. there's only been 1 or 2 vehicle's running them that i've been able to sit in. all others i about immediately bail out of.

that helix set is a good set for it's price point. more alive sounding than most others that sound dull to me in the vocal range. the tweeter is pretty well in balance. not to strong, not weak.

but like i said, if you are tweeter happy, these might not satisfy you..... unless you do some eq'ing to boost them overly bright.

I bought em today already so we'll see how I like 'em in a week or two when I can get them installed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

With the decent eq /install they can easily be tamed no problem.
