I'm in my 5th year right now. It's a 4 1/2 year program but I managed to screw up my schedule enough so that I have to make it a 5 year program, haha. I've got 7 credit hours to take this spring then I'm done (taking 13 right now). The light at the end of the tunnel has appeared....

Well I'm excited to get a job and start making bank...Kind of sad to think that I'm pretty much a full blown adult now though, haha

Also going to miss the college atmosphere, even though at this point most of it doesn't really appeal to me....I'll miss the football games, ha

Then again, I know what the real world is like. Our school has a pretty decent engineering program that involves mandatory co-ops, so I worked for a company for 2 years (making $17 an hour) which was awesome but it was a real eye opener. In the real world engineers only spend like 10% of their time actually engineering. The rest is taken up by meetings and paperwork. Then there's the stupid office politics and crap, it can be kind of overwhelming. But maybe I was just working with the wrong people...

That's where I am at this moment! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif I work at BorgWarner and tomorrow is my last day of co-op term. Come Monday school starts. It's really nice being ahead of the game with 2+ years of work already under the belt. It is incredible how much time meetings and such really do take up. Where'd you work?

Owens Illinois, they're one of the largest glass bottle manufacturers in the world. (Beer bottles, wine bottles, pickle jars, baby food jars, etc)

I've never heard of BorgWarner, what do they do? Did you like it? You think you might have a future there?

BorgWarner is an automotive company - we make turbos, driveline components, dual-clutch transmissions (what I work on), transfer cases, other engine, transmission, cooling systems stuff... it's a big company and there are facilities all over the world.

I love it here - my previous co-op was with Tenneco Automotive, designing exhaust systems. I love exhaust systems and the souind they make, but I HATED the working environment and didn't like the people much. BorgWarner is great on all levels. I wish they'd put a facility in San Diego so I could live near home and work here.

We supply the Variable Geometry Turbos in the Porsche 911 Turbo and we also designed the dual-clutch transmission technology for the Bugatti Veyron and the Nissan GTR. (although Ricardo in the UK manufactures the Veyrons'. The GTR's was developed in the facility I'm sitting in now.) Was quite blown away when I learned that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

edit: forgot that the veyron's four turbos are also BorgWarners //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
