i just bougt a alpine cda-7893 and i was going to do the installation on my 96 bmw m3. i installed it using two adapters, one bmw to universal and one universal to alpine adapter. i also had a european antenna adapter. i connected all the pieces and turned on the unit. when it turned on the radio played just fine, but the cd player somehow didnt work. it showed the time going like the cd was playing, and the graphics were moving like there was music but no music came out. did i get a defected deck? thanks for the help

that system may have a seperate factory power amplifier. In that case you would have ot by pass that amplifier and run your speaker leads from the headunit to the outputs of the factory amplifier (which go to the speakers) In most newer, more expensive cars, they usually have factory amplifiers in the vehicle.

Hey Fonzy,

How do you turn the internal Alpine Amp off??? do you mean the 60Watts X 4 amp?? because i have a new Alpine 7894RB deck, and i don't use any of the outputs on that, its all coming out the RCAs............and apparently it'd run better if the outputs were disabled??? do you know how?? or am i barking up the wrong tree?

Thanks
