Hearing loss FTL :(

I am suffering a little bit of hearing loss due to the highs from my system. Not really the bass, because i have it to where it sounds good to my ears and not just loud and annoying. I think my ears are just adjusting to the spl. I don't think i am going to have permanent hearing loss or nothing though because i can still hear normally after listening to my stereo at full tilt. My speakers don't sound quite as loud now as they did when i first got them, but still plenty loud.

I probably won't end up doin it till next summer

i doubt u can fit 2 18's ported in a trunk. maybe 2 15's. trust me if u havent heard a true GROUND POUNDER then go hear one and u will seriously think ur system is like a tweeter compared theres lol. i have heard a 153+ at the headerst at 35 HZ. little bit loud

I've got 6 cubes, taking up maybe 50-60% of my total trunk space, I'd build it all in the trunk, walled off to the cabin, I bet I could get 10 cubes net, which would be more than enough for these subs, idk if I upgrade subs though

yea u need at least 14 cubes net and a huge port for 18's to be worth it.

I had to stop DJing last year because the tinnitus in my right ear is so bad that I started to shut off monitors when I mixed due to high volume. Fast forward to this year where I put a small 1,000 watt system in one car and I am about to do the same in the other car. I don't know what those 1,000 watt systems will hit in dBs but I bet it is in excess of 100!

Between shooting without hearing protection in my younger years, DJing, and prior automobile sound systems, I guess I am just destined to be deaf!

Meh, my 18 BTL likes 5 cubes net just fine...a bit smaller than id like but it is doing great

Studies show sound levels in excess of 95db will cause permanent hearing loss.

Nothin like a 25-35hz monster, plus I'll actually be able to move decent amounts of air in the 30-50hz range, sealed just doesn't do that //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif but below 25hz right now is already pretty dirty...no way my sunroof or trunk could hold up with anymore..I'm surprised they haven't popped open yet as it is

That box isnt in my car anymore...now its rear firing, and im going to most likely make another port-wall to replace the one in there now

i actually sold my subs because of lack of self control.lol.if itll get loud,i play it loud.we get hearing checks at work every year cause its loud in with the printing presses.they say my hearing hasnt changed significantly from the previous year,every year.but they dont compare this year to 10 years ago.would be interesting to see.but anyways ya i agree on the"its not loud to me"thing.i drive an hour also,and i crank it if i got it.only way i can tell if its too loud is when my ears start hurting bad.well my right one anyways.is it like that with you guys too as far as hearing goes?my bass affects my right ear the most.anyway,2 months with an sq setup and now im lookin spl again,like 1 -15 like a type r or somethin.i miss the vibrating eyeballs!!and windsheild flex.........long live SPL!!!

Meh, that could be a possibility..I think while im there I will get a reading with the box rotated both directions to make sure.

And since im in NW...the rear deck is pretty much a giant hole, no carpeting and I modified it previously (theres metal cut away from the center of it...the 18 is pretty much firing straight up into the cabin)...i also will have the rear seats taken out for comps...so with no rear seats, no rear deck carpeting, and some of the rear deck missing I think that'll help me quite a bit
