Headunit- Power switch cable

hey guys. In my friends impala we installed his headunit but dont know what we should wire his turn on wire to. I forgot the name for it but its red and receives a small voltage that turns on the headunit when you turn on the car. usually i wire it to the cigarette lighter but he doesnt have one. Does anyone have any ideads where we can wire up this cable? thanks

Yellow wire = constant +12V

Red wire = switched 12V or in other words a source that comes on when you turn on the ignition.

Black = ground

Do you have a DMM or test light?

yup. should i look for a wire that gets voltage when the cars on but not off

yeah thats exactly what you should do. i have heard of some people taping into their windshield wiper fuses. maybe check that out, but i would start testing right at the fuse box and when you find one you will just be able to fuse tap it.

Yeah, on the yellow wire of the deck, connect it to a wire that always has 12 volts or you'll lose your radio presets.

On the red wire, find one that only has juice when the ignition key is switched to ACC.
