Headunit lights dimming

My headunit sometimes dims or flickers when my headlights are on, does this mean i need a new battery ?

you may need to recheck your headunit's wiring harness.

check/upgrade power and ground wires to hu

i didn't ground the ground that came with the wire harness so should i ground that too with the stock one or ground that one to the metal part the cd player is held in and cut the stock ground?
