Headunit broke or bad wiring?

This just started yesterday and I don't know what the problem is, basicly any time I turn up the volume on my hu past 18 (of 30) all 4 of my door speakers cut in and out. First thought was bad amp, checked it with another same thing.

My subs stay on when this happens.

So is my headunit broke or is there some specific wiring I should double check?

when somthing happend like this for me i found out that my rear speaker wire was getting pinched... with made my hu only play sub..... i would check your speaker wire and make sure that its all good....do u have a 4 channel running all of ure speakers or do u just have an amped front stage or what?

I have a 4 channel running my doors.

I don't see how that could be the problem though since it ONLY happens when I turn up the volume.

Not saying your wrong I plan to check it, just don't know how that could be the problem.

The amp does not shut off when this happens, power stays on just no output.

Wiring is hooked up correctly.

Adjusting the gains on the amp changes which volume on the hu that it stops playing at. With gain at Nom (which is below matched) it's 18ish with gain all the way down it has to be at 26ish to stop working.

Thats what leads me to the HU being bad.

Is there a way to test the RCA connections? If I hook my DMM to the two conductors on my cable I should get somewhere around 4v (alpine 9855) right?
