My Sony head unit has a volt meter built in. Would I need to run the power to the head unit from the distribution block at the amplifier to get an accurate reading of my voltage at the amps? Or would voltage drops actually show up running off the harness behind the dash?

There are bluetooth amplifiers. You can just use your phone or an I Pod as the music source and not touch the radio.
