Head Unit SQ

I have a Pioneer Premeier DEH-P730. I was wanting to know if the loud setting should be turned off for better SQ. It just sounds so much better to me with the loud setting on high. With it turned off the music seems dull and reminds me of the days I spent with non-amped Pionner TS 6x8 as my front stage.

the loud boosts the bass at 100Hz, but i forget in how many DB's. pioneer needs to kill that shiit. if they wanna have a 'loud' button make it 45 - 60Hz. fuqin 100hz....... pfffffft

On the Pioneers I've had, the loud button boosts frequencies at the low end of the spectrum and the high end of the spectrum pretty much evenly.

And on the Pioneers I've had, they've all sounded better with the loud feature turned on, even to the lowest setting. Much as you've experienced, it sounded dull and lifeless with the loud turned off. Ofcourse, in those setups I also had no other forms of equalization, which may have helped more.

But, set it however sounds best to you. Just remember to set your gains/etc with the loud on as to not cause any undue clipping.

my old pioneer sounded better with loud on low, but it sounds best off on my 880prs
I happen to think the loud sounds like sh!t on the 880 as well, but I'm sure different models sound different. The BBE seems to have a similar but less dramatic effect than loud anyways.
