Kenwood KDC-X890 & Sirius

I just installed the KDC-X890 along with the SIR-KEN1 Sirius tuner - So the stations are great, but it will not display the station names, song titles, or other data consistently. Mostly just says "Waiting" and occasionally displays the right song, or the wrong channel name. Tried 2 tuners, 2 cables, same result. Kenwood's folks say its the tuner (and to its credit, everything else on the HU works and sounds great). Anyone else have this problem? Sure seems like a compaitibility issue to me. Kenwood refers to the manufacturer of the tuner, Directed Electronics, but they're closed until Tuesday. I've not found any other Sirius tuner out there for the newer Kenwoods, either.

The problem you are having is the reason I joined this forum. I have the same head unit with the same issue. I don't believe it's the tuner because I was originally using a Kenwood KTC- SR902. I thought maybe it was too old for the newer technology. I replaced it with the DEI one that you bought and it's exactly the same. The inconsistency is irritating. Sometimes it behaves flawlessly and I get all of the correct information. And then just as quickly as it came, it goes away and I get "waiting". I am not sure what to do. It drives me up the wall. Looking for that information on the screen has become second nature..

I have placed the antenna EVERYWHERE! I have tried 3 different antennas... I don't ever lose the actual signal, I just don't get the song information. It almost seems like the head unit is searching endlessly for the information. I travel the same 50 miles every day, to and from work, and sometimes the information is there and other times it just says "waiting"

happens to me with my Kenwood XXV... and from all accounts its the tuner and not the head unit (went to Sirius's forums and searched there.. a few topics of the same issue)... if i cycle through all the devices with the SRC button, it will in fact come back once I get back to Sirius.. and this only happens to me when the car has been turned off for a whlie.. when I start her up, I get Waiting, I cycle through and its back... /shrug

Ive been told I should look at getting the now out of production Kenwood KTC-SR902 from ebay.. I havent done that yet... but I might one day...
