Head unit recommendations?!

I am just helping my friend try to find a good head unit, for right around $100! I love alpine, so I told him to look at those, what about kenwood, I heard that you shouldn't go under 5500 series with kens? Not 100% on that though! Any suggestions help! Thanks!

i got a couple headunits over here around that price range whats he trying to do? what does he need it for... is he running a four channel amp or just subs?

Ight, well I really dont think he will be running a four channel, so if it just hase sub pre outs that'll be fine! He is just running some stock speakers i think! Maybe some aftermarkets?

i like the entry level eXcelon by Kenwood. a nice piece.

i also like Alpine. he may get a better bang-for-the-buck with a used deck. check out the classifieds.

If he is looking not to amplify the speakers i would suggest something with a higher internal amplifier rms XX watts x 4.. IMO just a factor to consider
